Welcome to my home,
the actual house of morm.
Read on for stories about my favourite little objects, DIY updates, inspiring vignettes and more.
Introduce pieces with personal stories
We found these old cinema chairs in Barcelona, while we were there for a month. I needed to use my very limited Spanish to negotiate and organise shipping to our airbnb and then spend the rest of the month figuring out how to ship it back to Romania.
The reality of the TV wall
If we’re honest, we all watch stuff. And as much as a TV is an eyesore from a design perspective, it is still the best option for watching actual TV, streaming or (like me) binging YouTube.
The best thing to do is to embrace it. Incorporate it into the design.
Tiny things with great impact
When you find the missing puzzle piece. I found this weird little wall vase at a fleamarket for 1 euro (5 ron) and look how perfectly it punctuated this small place next to the TV.
Consider weird angles
Look at the spaces from multiple angles and consider adding some visual interest in less conventional places.
I also have a print behind a door, only visible from my bed, and it’s just such a joy to wake up to that view.
Or this tiny one, only visible when i pull the curtains in the evening
The power of light
How a home looks in the dark is just as important as how it looks in the broad daylight.
Reupholster a headboard bed
If you want the best full-body workout, my best tip (with 0 authority on the subject) is to take apart, reupholster and rebuild your bed on a Saturday morning. It was worth the pain tho, this green linen is just so much better to touch than a grey, shiny polyester.
The before
Never forget about the kitchen
Personal touches and decor can have a huge impact in the kitchen too. It transforms a very utilitarian room into a sanctuary. Here are just a few examples - for more detail you can read the blogpost about it.
